Artist's Profile
Helen served as Educational Media Art Director at the Center for Instructional Technology at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI from 1968 to 1988. She continues to paint, instruct,and lecture.
Educated at Cass Tech and Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts, she was also awarded fellowships at the Ossabaw Island Project, Savannah, Georgia (1968-69); Henry Clews Art Foundation, La Napoule, France (1985-87)
and Master Class, Jack Beal and Sondra Freckleton, Oneonta, NY (1990 - 1994. In 1979, she studied at Ecole DuFois, Le Cerqueux, France; Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, Vermont (1991) and with Milt Kobayashi, Scottsdale, Arizona (1992/1997).
Her solo exhibitions in Michigan include: Pontiac Art Center; Lansing Art Center; Belian Art Center, Troy; Preston Burke Gallery, Detroit; Macomb Center for Performing Arts, Warren; Port Huron Museum of Art and History;
Ashley-Chris Gallery, Grosse Pointe Park; Flint Institute of Arts ( S & R Gallery), Flint; and Ambleside Gallery, Greensboro, North Carolina.
