Artist's Profile
Rita Smith was born in London in 1946. She received her degree from Camberwell School of Fine Art, and did her postgraduate work at the Slade School of Fine Art. Rita was a recipient of a Boise scholarship, allowing her to travel and paint throughout
the United States. For the past twenty years she has been a part-time tutor at Camberwell School of Art, The Open College of the Arts, the Working Men's College and Saltash Community College. She lives and works in Cornwall, England.
Her solo exhibitions include: 1984 University of Surrey Gallery, Guilford; 1990 The New Street Gallery, Plymouth; 1995 Plymouth Arts Center.
Group exhibitions include: 1986 "The South London Open," South London Art Gallery; 1987 "South East, North West," The Grund Art Gallery, Blackpool; 1988 The London Group Exhibition, The Royal College of Art; 1988 "True to Form," The Orangery, London
